High school isn't easy, it is probably one of the most challenging times of your life. Everybody relies on you to make the best decisions for yourself. The change between primary and high school is massive as well, when I was in primary school I never knew it was going to be this hard.
If you are reading this and moving up to high school this year, don't be worried. Yes, it is tough but there are so many good sides to it as well. I have made the most amazing friends and memories that I
will never forget!
I think that high school has this massive expectation that it is one of the best time in your lives when in reality it is not.
Firstly I have learnt that not everyone is going to be nice to you or going to like you. It is just in any other normal situation where when you meet someone you have an opinion on them, you might not like them either. You can't just walk into somewhere and expect everyone to love you because it just doesn't work like that.
This then leads to arguments. I hate arguing, it is so time consuming but you soon learn that it is going to happen anyway. I would much rather stay out of it, it's not for me-haha.
In my first year of high school, I always thought that having a really big group of friends was better than having a small one. It soon hit me that I was wrong. Many people just want to be your 'friend' to have an extra 'friend', that is why they are fake. I learnt to find a good group of friends and just keep as that. No more arguing and people you can actually rely on when you need help.
School work is hard, really hard. You get A LOT of homework which can lead to stress and tears. Working hard and paying attention to the teacher is something that you have to do or you will not succeed. Your future self with thank you, I promise.
There are so many decisions that you have to take and I think one of the biggest is to either go out with friends or stay in and do school work. I have to admit when I was in my second year I made the wrong decision- going out with friends. Now I know that everything has a cost.
High school is all about learning new things and making the right decisions. It is a time where you have so many path ways to go down and you don't really know which one to actually go down. I guess high school has it's ups and downs and you have to deal with it. It is very difficult but then again absolutely amazing at the same time!
